Is Your Destiny Written In Stone?

I just returned from an amazing event in Seattle that I co-hosted with my friend and colleague Colette Baron-Reid.  It’s hard to describe how cool it is to do tandem readings with your friend, but it reminds me of the old “Wonder Twin” power cartoons where the characters would put their hands together and activate their super powers.  Although the girl would always declare “I’m an eagle!” which was totally cool, the guy would then say “Form of water!”  A bucket of water?  Seriously?

But alas, I digress.  As Colette was doing an amazing reading on one audience member, she was about to make a prediction and said something that really resonated with me.

“I see something in your sphere of possibility.”

That expression perfectly fits what I believe as a professional psychic.  Earlier in my career, I was certain that we all came to this planet with every single moment of our lives predestined.  I chanted, visualized, meditated, wonder twin power activated-anything in the hopes of learning how to decipher that life code.  I can only speak for myself, but as I look back on that desire, I think it comes from wanting to protect myself from unexpected pain.  If we could predict the outcome of most situations, I thought that this knowledge would alleviate stress and doubt.  But the truth is I don’t believe that this is exactly how the Universe works.

As a psychic, I have come to realize the energy patterns that repeat throughout our lives.  Sometimes those patterns are based on personality and core issues, and often they are based on past experiences.  For example, I might tune into a client who suffered a major abandonment from childhood, and perhaps they haven’t explored or healed this feeling in a therapeutic environment. In this case, I will see or feel unsatisfying relationships in their current life and most likely disappointment in their sphere of possibility.

And that’s just it.  Our future isn’t written in stone, but as seers we can tune into the likely direction of a situation.  What has transformed for me is not gazing into the future until my third eye is bloodshot – but now tuning into the current energy pattern of a client.  I am assessing how hard they are working on themselves.  If they are in a balanced, optimistic and productive state, they are more likely to create and attract the life they want to live.  If the energy feels stuck, disconnected and blocked, they are more likely to be disappointed and frustrated with their situation.

Personally I find this revelation quite freeing.  I feel empowered with the knowledge that we create our destiny.  If we work on ourselves enough and continue to live a conscious existence, abundance, happiness, and prosperity are actually right at our fingertips.

Ask yourself this?  How often are you waiting for your destiny to manifest?  Approaching life from a slightly different perspective will help us realize that we are surrounded by opportunity.  Simply put, there are opportunities all around you that are waiting for you to engage in them.  They are in your sphere of possibility, but it is up to you turn it into a reality.

  1. Hi Dougall,

I was at your Seattle event with Colette!!! So glad that I attended. I spoke with you briefly after, and we had living in NYC on the UWS in the past in common 😉 I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to see you in action. I had been more familiar with Collette's work, but it was a pleasure to see that you also have a great sense of humour and a willingness to be so honest and open about yourself and your work. I hope I can come to another one of your events soon. I wish you continued success, and look forward to reading your book!

    Thanks so much,

  2. When I saw you about 4 years ago you'd suggested that I get outside and find a form of exercise to improve my low mood. I resisted, but this spring began running, lost 15 lbs and feel that my sphere of possibilities is opening. Thank you!

  3. Dougall, is was so wonderful to finally meet you in person. Having both yourself and Colette at the same venue was wonderful and insightful. Putting Cheryl and myself up front for a group "hug" I call it was exhilarating. I look forward to attending additional formats that you and or Colette do again. In the mean time "don't worry about Japan, be yourself and you will be loved there as much as you are here"!  Thank you for a great weekend experience.

  4. Great insight that reinforces that everyone has choice and responsibility in their own lives, even if they have been conditioned to think otherwise.  That''s a kind and wise thing for a reader to help sitters to know–best wishes!
