I’m Back In Japan!

David and I have finally returned to Japan after close to 2.5 years! As a psychic intuitive and cosmic life coach, I feel blessed to have traveled all over the world for my work. I love working in different countries because I find that no matter the culture, I learn something new about myself as I help to guide clients towards a more empowered future. And Japan has always held a special place in my heart.

Ever since I was a child, I’ve felt a strong connection to Japan in ways that I couldn’t explain. I asked my parents to sign me up for Japanese language lessons around the age of eight, a time when my friends were more interested in things like sports or video games. I loved spending time at my friend Shin’s house, practicing Japanese with his mom and eagerly hoping that she might share some of her delicious traditional dishes.

I told my parents that I must have had a past life in Japan, and that one day I’d return again. They’d kindly say “okay Dougall” while smiling to each other. I’m sure they just thought I had an active imagination, but the funny thing is that I did end up manifesting a wonderful life in Japan!

I’ve made over a dozen trips to Japan in the last seven or so years, speaking to people about my work as an intuitive. To this day, I feel emotional and often cry when we land in Tokyo. I’ve had the honor to hold workshops, give countless private intuitive sessions, and teach lectures for large groups of participants.

And so, after Japan’s borders finally opened to foreigners again earlier this month (for the first time since they closed in 2020), David and I couldn’t wait to return. Coming back again has been an incredible opportunity to reconnect with the wonderful colleagues, clients and friends that we’ve met over the years.

As an aura intuitive, I teach people how to see and interpret the meanings of auras around themselves as well as others. Just like the moon, we all possess a natural halo of life force energy around us. Our aura will change color and size depending on our mood or life circumstances. It’s really like a mood ring for the soul!

Each color represents certain personality traits, which tend to manifest in anyone with the same color aura. For example, someone with gold around them is usually very productive (the kind of person who makes a to-do list and then completes every item in a timely manner). They are often self-employed (or want to be). But what I’ve learned over the years is that the aura can be influenced by our own intention.

I discovered this by visualizing gold energy in meditation and surrounding myself with the color. And even though I tend to lean more on the lazy side, I noticed myself becoming more productive and self-sufficient with gold. I still have to make effort of course, but things just seem to happen more easily when I activate the gold part of my aura.

Speaking of gold, this week we hosted a manifesting workshop in a part of Japan called Kanazawa.

Located in Ishikawa Prefecture, Kanazawa is an area which is known to be the largest producer of gold leaf in all of Japan. Since ancient times, the gold leaf produced here has been used to decorate temples, palaces, Buddhist statues and more.

And so we thought that it was the perfect place to host a retreat about gold energy! It was my first time (in this lifetime anyway) visiting the area and I absolutely loved spending time with participants as we explored.

The massive tori gate at Kanazawa station

Kanazawa (like Kyoto) was spared from destruction during World War Two, and because of this there are some lovely old areas where you can soak up the ambience.

We met our retreat participants in an area called the Higashi Chaya District, a beautiful street full of old teahouses and shops. A grounding, woodsy scent perfumed the air as we strolled, because the outside of each teahouse had been lovingly lined with wood by skilled artisans. It was easy to imagine the Geisha who used to perform in these teahouses for important guests many years ago.

There are also stores on this street that sell porcelain from the Kutani region of Ishikawa prefecture. Known as “Kutani-yaki”, this beautiful style of porcelain ranges from incredibly intricate colorful designs on handmade teacups, to more simple bowls and plates.

If you enjoy shopping for housewares like me, it’s an absolute feast for the eyes to see these items as you walk.

We entered the first teaching location for our retreat, a café called Kanazawa Shitsurae Yanagian that was graciously hosted by my friend Hiroko and her kind husband Tatsuya. The café is run by a long-established gold leaf company called Hakuichi (of which Tatsuya is the CEO). Inside the café you’ll find many golden treasures for purchase including framed artwork, pottery, jewelry and delicate foods.

In a tranquil, second floor open-air room we were served shimmering gold-infused tea and delicate vanilla ice cream draped in edible gold leaf. We wanted participants to feel like they were literally absorbing the law of attraction through gold energy, and it was wonderful to see this vision realized.

In this perfect setting I stood up and shared how gold energy can be used for goal-setting and manifesting. I wanted them to know that by pairing the positive energy of gold with grounded action steps, they could recalibrate their auras to become manifesting magnets.

Finally, I asked them to choose a positive change in their lives that they wanted to manifest in the coming year. Once the choice was made, each participant walked across a small bridge made of gold that was located in the center of the café. Crossing the bridge would symbolically complete their golden vision, setting it in motion for the Universe.

And so now it’s your turn. As we get closer to the end of 2022, what positive changes would you like to see in your life? What would you like to manifest that could make you a better version of yourself? Claim it in the comments below so we can support each other! Affirming each other’s positive goals will help build abundant manifesting energy for all of us.

Try visualizing or surrounding yourself in gold as you do this exercise, it will help empower your thoughts as you contemplate the kinds of changes you’d like to make in yourself.

Much Love,

P.S. Speaking of manifesting, I’m teaching a manifesting masterclass on December 8th! I’ll share my intuitive outlook for the year ahead, and some of my most effective steps to help you attract the life of your dreams. You can learn more about it by clicking here (or just sign up below). A replay will also be available if you can’t attend live.

  1. What a powerful journey for you and the students you taught. I’m manifesting finding my purpose and servicing others. I’m manifesting a healthier lifestyle and opening opportunities for like minded people that will open more of a community for me to be apart of. Your work your doing for the world is beautiful!

  2. My sensitive, wise but humble son Hayden (born in New Zealand but definitely past lives in Japan) and his beautiful loving wife Hitomi are expecting their first child in April. They live in Tokyo and she has been unwell and they have been looking for a slightly bigger apartment unsuccessfully to date. So may I please place this here, not only for me to manifest into being but any other kind and generous souls that may read this if they could also join with me in visualising them in golden light to assist them through this difficult but so very special time in their lives. I thank you from the bottom of my heart in advance.

  3. Dougal, I am so happy for you. I’ve only been to Japan twice each time was so special and I always felt so safe there. The culture is amazing. Kailee got to spend an entire month there with friends of mine. She hopes to return someday and possibly teach English. She will always have a place to stay when she’s there. I would love to return myself and perhaps this next year I’ll be able to do that. I always enjoy hearing your exurbs of your travels there take care.,Barbara
