I was unconscious for five hours

This week I had major dental surgery, and have been feeling like a hot mess ever since.

I’m not talking about a cavity, root canal or crown. I required bone graft implants in all four quadrants of my jaw.

This surgery was needed due to some inherited bone loss issues that I’ve dealt with for much of my life.

I’ve known that this was coming for years and have been trying to put it off with positive thinking and excellent dental hygiene. But brushing, flossing, and rinsing three times daily only helped for so long. And so the surgery day finally arrived.

Another genetic trait I inherited is that anesthetics don’t work well on me. I don’t fully understand it, but basically my body metabolizes them quickly. So they ended up needing to use much more than the average person. Yay me!

I ended up being under anesthesia for well over 5 hours.

I woke up speaking Japanese to David.

I had intense visions and experiences throughout the procedure. I’m still processing what I experienced and will share it soon.

It was a lot!

I like to consider myself self-aware, but in hindsight it is comical how much I had scheduled on my calendar this week.

I was certain I could record videos for work 48 hours after the procedure.

I had zoom meetings scheduled for various aspects of my job and was even considering a garage sale on Saturday!

What on earth was I thinking?

It is my nature to hold space for others, and it has been quite interesting to observe myself resist taking a break this week.

David has been so sweet in taking care of me.

He has been pureeing every possible dish for me to eat, since I can’t have anything resembling solid food for awhile. I think I’m one meal away from getting a blended vegetable lasagna soup.

He has been picking up the slack with work, even recording the mid-month check in for our Cosmic Community like a champ.

All the while, I am working on trying to receive care and allow my body to rest.

It’s funny how often I tell students that when the body has a health issue, to receive it as a messenger.

Has your body been sending you any messages lately?

Maybe it’s asking you to slow down? Perhaps it’s a sign that you need to do more self-care?

Or maybe it’s asking you to be conscious of allowing love your way?

This week I am receiving a big old heaping dose of my own medicine.

I need to relax.

I need to recover.

And most importantly, I need to allow myself to receive.

With that being said, please excuse my absence as I focus on healing! I’m sending you all the love and will be back next week.

Much love,

Poor sweet man. But what a blessing you have in your Love David. ❤️
I’m really curious about your visions..🤔
Take care and Rest.Sending you soo much love and Positive healing ENERGY 🙌

    1. Oh Dougall sending you so much love and all the Angels of Healing to be with you! Seeing you healed and whole now!

    1. Thank you Suzanne. it’s been a lot to go through for sure. But I’m grateful that I was able to have the surgery, I know that not everyone who needs care is always able to get it.

  2. Dear Dougall,
Sending you healing energies and Archangel Raphael for Love and healing and pain management; Archangel Michael and Archangel Ariel for strength and protection; Archangel Metatron to find the time to relax and care for yourself; Archangel Uriel to bring you magical ideas while you enjoy your rest; Archangel Chamuel to help you find the patience to let go of control while you heal. Know that the angels, including David, will care for you and all will be well!

  3. This is a goodlesson for all of us who give to others …. we need to be kind and give to ourselves. While painful and difficult, I have no doubt that this experience will open you to so much more for your own life and for all the lives you touch. Take good care and take time to give yourself all that you need.

  4. I had major reconstructive jaw surgery (and 2 wisdom teeth extractions) at age 17, with the expectation of my jaws being wired shut for 6-10 weeks.

Fortunately, I only had to deal with puréed food for 5 weeks.

We even put Chinese food with chicken broth and milk in the blender. If I recall, I did like it, but, peanut butter-banana milkshakes were my favorites.

I hope that you give yourself time and space to heal and maybe process those visions, if that’s what you need.

    Take care!

  5. I want to wish you a speedy recovery. That was quite the surgery. It is okay to relax and visualize yourself as recovered and doing what you love. When I was three, I was told I fell off the stair rail and bruised my jaw badly, but luckily, all I remember was climbing the rail. So I hope when you woke up and spoke to David, it was a friendly message :).
I look forward to our next meeting, but we will all understand if it has to be moved. I am sure Dylan is giving you kisses and comfort.

    Blessings,

  6. Sounds awful. I’ve been through dental surgery and puréed food myself. Although, not nearly as intense as yours. Somehow you found a way to write a blog though. Hmm. Get some rest.

  7. I hate dental work as well, and have avoided a root canal for 25 years simply by thinking it away, then the hurt comes back, and I’m like, nope it’s go e again… lol, they have to double dose me with anesthesia as well, and it somehow makes me convulse going immediately into my nerves! I don’t wish that on anyone! Take your time, rest and recover! We are all thinking about you, and holding space for you! Xoxo Lorin

  8. Hi Dougall!
I took, absorb anesthetics so I knew exactly what you were talking about. It is an inherited trait. My dad has it as does my son.

David is such a love. Of course he is taking amazing care of you! You two are an awesome couple and that’s what you do for someone you love.
He did a great job on the mid month check in for our Cosmic Community.
Btw! Congratulations on your new family member, Dylan!
I love you guys are the 3D’s!

I’m very happy to hear you are taking your own advice on self care and taking time to heal.
Rest, Heal and spend time with your family. All that happy energy will help you to heal fast!

    Much love to you all!
    Jen

  9. I hope you feel better soon! Have you ever been checked for a connective tissue disorder? I have Ehlers-danlos, an inherited genetic condition. I never knew I had it until my daughter was diagnosed. As with a lot of EDS people, she doesn’t stay under anesthesia long and doesn’t stay numbed locally either. I was fortunate not to get that part of it, but I know from my support group, that a lot of people with connective tissue disorders commonly do.

Protein shake tip: Atkins chocolate protein shakes aren’t too bad. Fairlife vanilla are the best but hard to find. Sending you hugs and healing energy. ❤️

    1. Agreed! I have Ehlers Danlos and major dental issues as well as hypermetabolizing Novocain and many things sound like may be up his alley.

  10. Boy do I feel for you! I have a birth defect that has caused major dental issues where I could not eat anything but soft foods for extended periods of times.
At this stage in my healing journey I am asking…what past lifetime/ancestral timeline did this come from, then I have been doing Denise Linn’s past life meditations and going in and changing things.
Allow yourself to receive healing and assistance on your healing journey. I can’t wait to hear about what you received…and what colors you saw.
    Love and Light!

  11. I’m glad you’re doing well and taking time to rest, recover, and listening to your own wisdom. I’m sending you love and healing energy. It’s awesome that you have David to help and support you as well as the cute new dog.

  12. Friend be patient with yourself over the coming weeks. It’s really common after surgery or child birth to have a couple exhausted days and then get a burst of energy and think “I’m healed now…so back to business” and then lose steam again and wonder if something “went wrong” . I see this so often with my patients. It’s common. It’s normal. So if three weeks from now you find yourself needing an extra nap or two please give in to it. Also….sorry medical nerd here❤️…..the liver processes in an entirely different way when we are asleep. It has a much greater capacity to detox . A series of blood vessels opens to route blood through for cleaning in a way it cannot when we are awake. So if you’ve had lots more anesthesia your body really can help heal faster if you’re sleeping more. Love to you Dougal

  13. Ouch. So sorry, Dougal. And as you said, glad you were able to have the procedure.

Curious – do you speak Japanese in your daily life?

  16. I’m so sorry Dougall!! Sending love, prayers and hugs for a speedy recovery. David is a sweetheart and is taking such excellent care of you!! I do believe our bodies send us messages to get our attention. Be gentle with yourself and rest as much as you need to. Sending love and light always.❤️

  17. I hope you get well soon. I say the same thing. If you don’t listen to your body, your body will make you listen. You got this, positive vibes and prayers to you

  18. I hope that you feel better soon. That is a lot to deal with all at once. I am so glad that you have such an amazing husband to step up and help with all of this and take such amazing care of you too! Rest, heal, and be well. xxxooo

  19. Dougall
I am so sorry to hear you are not feeling well Are you okay, it looks painful.
My student also had to absent school last week for dental surgery. He came in yesterday and it looked very painful. It’s synchronous, isn’t it?

I guess it was a message to rest and stop, because you are busy with work.
I also have been forced to stop due to lack of sleep.

    You spoke in Japanese!
In your dream, were you practicing?
Il What was skiing in a dream during a ski camp and was able to ski the next day.

After recovering, your Japanese language skills must have improved a lot!

Well, please take care of yourself and don’t overdo it. I wish you a speedy recovery.
